Since his early days of singing at age five, Mauricio Herrera has gone on to build a career for himself as a singer and entertainer, which spans not only Central America but North America as well. From humble beginnings, Herrera was born in Orange, California. However, it was his family’s decision to go back to Costa Rica that his musical career really began to blossom and take hold. High school for Herrera not only consisted of studies, but participating in numerous singing festivals, including a televised event. The connection made with the audience and appearing in front of the camera undoubtedly inspired Mauricio the Showman to take his aspirations to an even higher level. By continuing to develop his signature style of crooning the popular tunes of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra he earned the nicknames of ELVIS TICO and FRANTICO SINATRA. Herrera found himself performing professionally for a variety of television shows, which greatly increased his spotlight in the media. At age 17, he received one of many huge opportunities: being hired and mentored by well known and respected artist, Paco Navarrete. From there, his star began to shine even brighter. Just two years later, the Showman Latino grabbed the opportunity of a lifetime by becoming the lead singer for the group, Banzai. This role led to an incredible experience as the opening act for renowned musical artists, such as Enrique Iglesias, Joaquin Sabina, Miguel Rios and Alejandro Fernandez, among many others. The critical acclaim received further pushed the Latin Showman to pursue a solo career. While such a move is often hit or miss for many recording artists, this decision catapulted Herrera to even more success, including appearances on the cover of TV Guide Magazine in July of 2000 and March of 2002. Other notable appearances on Television and Publications also include: Miss Costa Rica Juvenil, De Todo un Poco (Telemundo, EU), Miss Teen International, La Nacion (Show Biz) andRevista Domincal. By the end of 2002 Mauricio decided to move back to the United States in pursue of his Biggest Dream of becoming the most successful Latin Showman in America. At first he struggled with lack of support from the Media and was forced to take smaller performances and even more discrete venues, but this didn’t change his mentality or goals. By February 2003 his Father (Carlos Herrera) joined Mauricio in an effort to support his dream. Mauricio referred to his father as “BATMAN” and “his biggest Fan and supporter” since he consider him a super Hero. Mauricio’s Father was an Industrial Engineer, former Corporal for the Marine Corps. and Vietnam Veteran of War(1967,1968).Carlos Herrera had a very strong will to achieve objectives through hard work and audacious strategies. He did everything to help Mauricio, from financial support up to carrying his equipment from show to show to setting up the song list and booking his shows. Unfortunately, a personal tragedy struck Mauricio Herrera’s life, which would affect his decision to cement his career in that market: the death of his father, Carlos Herrera, who lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer on July 31, 2005. Mauricio tried everything to save his father’s life. He found new Treatments that helped him a lot but they were unable to afford due to the high costs and the level of stress his father was immerse by this illness. After taking some time away to be with his family, Herrera knew it was time to get his career goals back on track. Realizing that tackling the North American market would take a lot of hard work, Herrera dedicated himself totally to his craft by improving his performances and shows in English as well as Spanish. To increase his chances of success, Herrera also delved into songwriting. To date, he has released one album for his fans, which also features music from other artists as well as an Original production called: “AHORA” (NOW). Despite being in the music industry as a recognizable name for years, Mauricio Herrera the Showman continues to reinvent himself and gather new generations of fans.
